It was a cold, rainy night. The streets were empty, and the sound of thunder filled the sky. In a dark corner near an old shop, a small injured cat lay quietly.
Her name was Noor.
No one knew her, but she had once lived in a warm home. One day, her owners moved away and left her behind. Since then, she had been living on the streets, searching for food and safety.
A few days ago, a car had hit her. Her leg was badly injured. She could no longer run, and every step brought pain. Still, she tried to survive.
That night, Noor was very weak. The rain soaked her fur, and she shivered. She looked around with tired eyes, hoping someone would see her.
People passed by, but no one stopped.
After some time, a young girl named Sara came walking with her mother. Sara suddenly stopped.
“Ammi, look!” she said, her voice shaking.
She ran toward Noor and gently touched her. “She’s so cold…”
Her mother hesitated. “Beta, it’s late. We should go.”
But Sara’s eyes filled with tears. “Please… we can’t leave her like this.”
Her mother looked at the cat again. For a moment, she stayed silent. Then she nodded.
They wrapped Noor in a shawl and took her home.
That night, Noor slept in a warm box for the first time in many days. Sara stayed beside her, whispering, “You’re safe now.”
But Noor was very tired.
Early in the morning, when Sara woke up, the house was quiet. She ran to the box.
Noor was not moving.
Sara sat beside her and began to cry. “We were late…”
Her mother hugged her. “No, beta. We were not late. She did not leave this world alone. She felt love in her last night.”
Sara looked at Noor’s peaceful face. For the first time in many days, the cat looked calm.
From that day, Sara made a promise. She started helping every injured animal she saw. She told everyone in her school:
“Maybe we cannot save every life. But we can make sure no one suffers alone.”
And Noor’s last warm night became the beginning of many new hopes.
